Hi all,
So we assume that everyone says this after their first Kickstarter (whether successful or not), but it was definitely a learning experience for us. It was taxing, exciting, stressful, frustrating, and enlightening all at once. It was the first time that we were really putting ourselves out there beyond showing off concept art and rules samples, and running demonstrations at local gaming shops/clubs or conventions. As difficult as it was to see the Kickstarter fail (and by as much as it did), it certainly taught us a lot.
As a result, we’ve taken a good look at what seemed to work and what didn’t. A lot of the feedback we got from our fans and the gaming community in general is that we should try to focus on the game OR the miniatures for now, until we have more resources to put towards both. After going over the numbers with our printer and looking at all of the communication that we received from backers and fans, we have scaled down the plans for the starter set so that the next pass at Kickstarter won't have such a lofty goal (financially), something much more achievable:
• Focus on getting the campaign rulebook and card decks produced.
• Sideline most of the miniatures as well as the ship/space-station tiles for the time-being. Most of the models for which we created prototypes will also probably get a re-do at some point in the future, but that probably won’t be part of the Kickstarter (unless by some miracle we are crazy-successful).
• We still plan to have a few of the promotional models available at various contribution levels and as add-ons, so for those of you who liked Finch, Duncan, and/or the Thorim tech, you’re in luck!
• A much more modest and (hopefully) achievable goal for the Kickstarter re-launch.
• Relaunch late this summer (late August or early September).
We hope you’ll all return for the relaunch. Please feel free to get in touch with us either here, on FB or at our Kickstarter page with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. We look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks everyone,
Steve and David
