New Concept Art and More!

We have a few updates this evening.  The first is the concept art for the Marauder grunt.

 


Next, we have artwork for another of the beasts inhabiting the Terminus Gate universe, a hellhound.  We'll cover them more in depth in a later post.

Last is a hi-res, hi-detail 3D model of the Marauder captain's head.  It's a WIP but stunning none the less.

Just got the prototype for the technician back from the printer.  Now that we have the full set of prototypes for the Core World starter set, they are heading out the door to the caster.  On to the Marauders!

Marauders

With the sculpting of the initial Core World models complete, our sculptor is moving on to the other crew background that we will be rolling out with the release of Terminus Gate.  We have previewed the Marauder captain previously but here are some of the other concept pieces the sculptor will be working from to bring the Marauders to the table-top.

From the Terminus Gate rulebook:
  
Where there are ships, there are marauders.  Marauder crews pillage settlements, hijack cargo, and otherwise plunder their way from system to system.  Marauder fleets terrorize whole systems, taking what they want from whoever they want.  Outer systems remain in the most danger as their system governors are slow to react or, worse, are in league with marauders themselves.

What is Terminus Gate?



Terminus Gate is a gritty, brutal miniatures game pitting rival privateer crews against each other as they attempt to fulfill their contracts.  You are the captain of a space-faring privateer crew, contracting your services where you can in the vast outer systems.  Armed with some fresh recruits, you will ply your trade across the stars, picking up contracts ranging from planetary exploration to deep space salvage, policing actions to hit-and-run raids.  As they survive each job, your crewmen will gain experience, granting them new abilities and opportunities to develop in their professions.  

In the depths of space, opportunities and dangers abound.  Dark and terrible enemies poise ready to foil your crew at every turn.  Life as a privateer is a dangerous affair with injuries and even death awaiting your crew as they quest for fame and fortune amongst the stars.

Terminus Gate Tiles

One of the things that we knew we wanted to include with Terminus Gate from the very beginning was a set of tiles that players could use to represent the interior of starships or space stations.  We wanted players to be able to engage each other in darkened corridors of derelict spacecraft or commit brutal boarding actions in pursuit of their payday.  Additionally, the tiles would give players that have little or no terrain of their own a chance to play in a rich, tangible environment with minimal fuss.  With that in mind, we approached Joshua Bennett with the daunting task of designing and rendering our tiles.  Currently, there are over 100 tiles that will be produced, including several styles of doors, bulkheads, and breaches.  We have had the tiles with us for all of our demos and the positive reaction has been overwhelming.  For those that have not seen them yet, below are some samples.  Enjoy.

Critter Concepts

The universe of Terminus Gate is full of nasties poised to feast on humanity at the least opportune time.  Aside from being able to utilize customizable creatures and beasts, there is a large selection of Contract and Hazard cards for specific creatures that will be included with Terminus Gate.  Below are concepts for several of the nightmares we have planned.




Fringer Concepts

We decided to reveal some concept designs for another of the other crew backgrounds, Fringers.  Fringers prefer to ply their trade in the outer systems, away from the prying eyes of the Sol Alliance.  Colonists, criminals on the run, or just every day citizens looking for a little more breathing room all comprise the inhabitants of the outlying systems.  In deep space, trade lanes are plagued by marauders and galactic highwaymen while corrupt provincial governors protect their own interests more often than the Sol citizens they were hired to govern.  Life in the outer fringes is hard and rife with danger.  But, for those tough or stubborn enough to survive, the rewards can be quite lucrative.

WIP: Stonecutter

Got a WIP shot of one of the beasties the inhabit the Terminus Gate universe.  Below is the description of the stonecutter and the WIP sculpt for it.

Stonecutters are large omnivores similar in size and bulk to rhinoceroses found across Gruum.  Stonecutters are powerfully built, their muscly bulk protected by thickly armored hides.  Their heads are covered in a bony plate that they use to push rock and soil out of their way as they burrow through the ground.  Their legs end in large, spade shaped paws that terminate in razor sharp claws.  Due to the high iron content of the rocky soil on Gruum, stonecutters have tremendously hard claws, teeth and bones.  Gruumor tribes keep herds of domesticated stonecutters, both to assist them in their work and to utilize their bodies for making tools and building materials.  Wild stonecutters are extremely territorial and will defend their hunting areas if threatened.

Deckhand Complete

Hailing from the Core systems, we have our first completed crewman!  Believe it or not, this guy is a lowly deckhand.  The captain and the grunt should be following in the next few weeks.  This guy will be off to the 3D printer in the coming week to get a prototype made.

Duncan is done!  Will be getting him from the sculptor next week and off to have him cast.  Exciting!
